Weekend Coffee Share – Thanks for coming by

CoffeeIf we were having coffee, first, I’d thank you for stopping by.  We don’t get too many visitors, and um, sorry about the pet hair.  If you ask me why I decided to take part in this particular feature, I’d have to admit that I’ve found it adorable.  Even though I usually don’t get the chance to post when the week starts winding down, I was inspired by an assignment for Blogging 101 in which asked me to follow up on a comment you wrote on another blog by writing a new post.  I had mentioned on another blog that I keep meaning to participate but never do, and was encouraged to do so. And so here we are.

If we were having coffee, I would ask you how everything’s going with you and if you want a second, third cup?  Cam doesn’t drink coffee, so it’s up to us to finish the pot.  Yes, that’s why he’s only drinking blue Gatorade, or as we call it here: Romulan Ale.  Yes, we practically buy it in bulk at Big Lots.

Then, I could tell you how everything’s going with us lately.  It’s been a busy time.  I’ve tried doing Writing 101 and Blogging 101, and on top of that a new participant in NaNoWriMo.  That’s another thing I always meant to do, and now I’m finally doing it.  Shh, don’t tell anyone but I’m about 10,000 words behind.  Starting with just a basic outline, I got started, but now I’ve changed it entirely.  It’s been taking up a lot of my spare time for writing, which is why I haven’t posted any fiction on here in a couple of weeks.  I’m probably not going to finish on time at this rate, but it’s going to be fine.  When something like 90% of participants don’t finish anyway, I can give myself a little slack on the first try.

I really appreciate you not even mentioning the pile of laundry over in the corner or the dust everywhere.  We’re not the cleanest, but we usually make up for it on the weekends.  Between my seasonal job at the bookstore and Cameron’s classes this semester, we’re slack on that these days.  The dust is probably doing quite a number on Cam’s allergies.

If we were having coffee, we would be talking about how unseasonably warm the days have been, but complaining about how it now gets dark at 5 p.m. when we set our clocks back.  Just another month and I won’t even see the sun from Monday – Friday.  When I go to work, it’ll be dark; when I leave, it’ll be dark.  When I get home at 5:30, sometimes I feel like it’s already 8 p.m.  I’m already looking forward to spring.

Well, I’m looking forward to spring for more than just the sunshine.  That’s the tentative time for the wedding, and I didn’t realize how fast time really flies.  Of course, we haven’t actually planned any of it.  I have a dress that is gorgeous.  I’ll try it on for you, but I’ll warn you, it’s a bit tight from all the leftover Halloween candy.  I found it by reading another blogger who posted a picture of it, and I immediately tracked one down on ebay.  I’ll also say it’s heavier than it looks.

We’ll also share the latest on our t.v. obsessions.  I’ll tell you that I’m just not that into The Walking Dead anymore.  And I’m not just complaining about the whole “is Glen dead or not” thing.  The seasons have not been that exciting or intriguing to me lately, and I do nothing but roll my eyes at every scene.  I am just disappointed by the story lines.  Well, of course I have to keep watching now because Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been announced as the notorious villain Negan.  So, I just sigh, and watch the show and remind Cameron after every Sunday that I can no longer watch it.  Of course, I’ll watch it tomorrow at our friend Katie’s house.

Cam and I are still waiting for the new seasons of Game of Thrones and House of Cards. We thought about picking back up on Star Trek since we took a break from DS9, or watching Doctor Who (since I’ve not watched it).  We want to watch the new Ash Vs. Evil Dead but haven’t gotten around to it yet.  Other than a bit of laughs from John Oliver on HBO or Game Grumps on Youtube, our t.v. hasn’t been on that much.

Finally, before you go, as I brush some of the pet hair off of your nice black shirt, I’ll ask you to come back again soon.

  1. If it helps, there are multiple piles of laundry ’round my house at the moment. At least one is clean, though! It’s likely to be like this for another month or so, too. I have moments where I get a little grumpy about that, but they pass quickly … because there’s just not enough time at the moment. 🙂

The Cthulhu picture makes me smile. If I look to the right, one of the three pictures I see is one of me, my husband, and my older son wearing our close-to-matching Cthulhu hats.

    1. Thanks. The Cthulhu plush was a Christmas present from me to Cam. the portal companion cube was made by his sister. We plan to have a Cthulhu Christmas tree this year, but we didn’t have time for the Cthulhu Halloween wreath, so we’ll see. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I have pretty much settled into your way of thinking. The pressure did force me to completely rehash my entire plot. I’ll continue to work on it, but I won’t finish this month. I’m ok with that. If I feel the need for the challenge again, there’s always next year and another story idea rolling around in my brain.

  4. I never thought I’d hear about Cthulhu outside my classes, much less see anyone with a plush. Such a pleasant surprise.
I have been promising myself and my mum, anytime these many many months to clean out the other room and organize the piles of clothes overflowing from everywhere… they somehow don’t like to inhabit our cupboards. But weekends come and go and its still on my list…sigh…

  5. OMG you must live at my house. We have pet hair and fluff bunnies and piles of washing. I have a two year old granddaughter living at my house so we have lots of toys all over the place too. And books and pencils and coloring books and dolls and teddies and rocking horses and oh so much of the toys. I enjoyed your coffee article very much thank you.
